I have decided to share the recipe i used for the birthday cake. Its quite useful especially when you want to use plastic icing or fondant to cover the cake; the cake is nice and firm to hold the weight.
For those of you who would like to share some recipes, please be my guest:)
Basic vanilla cake
Baking time-45-60 minutes
Oven temperature- 180 degrees
- 120g (130ml) butter
- 110g (185ml) castor sugar
- 7ml vanilla essence
- 2 large eggs
- 240g (440ml) cake flour
- 10ml baking powder
- 125ml milk
Method:
Beat the butter until light. Add the castor sugar and beat well. Add the vanilla essence and then add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Sift the flour, baking powder and a pinch of salt together. Fold into the butter mixture alternately with the milk.
Spoon the mixture into a greased and lined 22cm round baking tin. Bake in a preheated oven for 45 minutes until a skewer comes out clean. Cool in the tin for about ten minutes, then remove and cool completely on a wire rack.
